His memory has always worked like that, in images, and he sees his life flash before his eyes, but there’s more. Hard-wrought words of forgiveness pour over his lips as his body is slowly giving up, and he SEES IT then, all at once - a future averted. Everything they could have been, should have been, will have been. It is a startling realization, that he has somehow come to love - that he was capable of it. It hits him like a sledgehammer and pushes the leftover air out of his lungs, because it’s too sudden. And too late. All he can do now is say his good-byes and hope that Bilbo manages to catch at least an echo of lovelight in the dying glint of his eyes. Let me tell you, Keio has THE most heartbreaking headcanons, which then turn to equally horrifically heartbreaking conversations, and this time I was compelled to draw it… Keio GDI!

Every day I’m so amazed by what this fandom is capable of creating, and the Lingerie Model AU is among the most adorable things :’) it definitely makes the canon more bearable, let’s hope it has a happy ending..!! This is the scene where Thorin offers Bilba his coat, because oversized coats on tiny ladies, yes PLEASE. Read the fic, if you haven’t already!
